Victoria Gazeley on Modern Homestead

I hear the sounds of Green Acres when I hear folks talk about going back to the land. I'm part city girl. I can relate to a fictional situation comedy about wanting to be back in nature.

I also know the reality of spending time with my grandmother. I chopped wood, drew well water and kept an I out for that rooster.

Not everybody can go back to farm life but you might want to consider incorporating a bit of it in your life.

This is Victoria Gazeley who lives in Canada. In this video she talks about her reasons for moving out of the city and living as close as she can to a modern homesteading life.

Her blog can be found at ModernHomesteading.ca

Sasha Sumner - WaterYouGonnaDo

Sasha's video is simple. What is the connection to water and life? In the notes that accompany this video she writes:

Hydraulic fracturing, known as “fracking” for short, is a means of extracting gas from underground through pressurized injection of water, sand and chemicals. The process not only releases the gas, but also contaminates the water and air with radioactive materials, heavy metals, and toxic chemicals.

Now view the video with that information in your mind. It does put a different swing on it. You can view more of Sasha's videos at her Vimeo page.

2 Artists and Growing Window Farms.org

You can talk about how bad things are. If you have a lick of sense you can decide that finding answers is a whole lot more productive. Working with others to find a wide range of answers is even better.

Britta Riley and Rebecca Bray are artists who saw that there are better options that damning people to hell. Like maybe combining recycling and giving people the ability to grow their own food?

Here are more details about the project:

Garden Girl TV - Sustainable Gardens and Videoblogging Green

I discovered Patti Moreno videos years ago when looking for vlog role models. Where there is dirt there is Patti planting something in it. This is a freaking great idea about using garden socks to set up a flower garden.

Patti's commitment and her use of video to promote gardening, sustainable living skills and all things green is amazing. For more information about Patti visit her site at Urban Sustainable Gardens.
